Locate and click on the
tab on the top menu.
|
|
The Settings tab allows you to: see advanced options when
applying themes, use transparent (Vista) Aero window frames instead of the
MyColors theme, exclude applications from having the MyColor theme applied to
it, check for software updates and get important system information helpful for
technical support. |

The first Setting change allows you to see advanced options
when applying a suite (theme) to your desktop. After checking the box
next to "I
want to see advanced options when applying suites", click on the
tab on the top menu.
Then click on a theme & click
.
You will see a small window open similar to the one below. Listed inside
are wallpapers for different resolutions (i.e. 1024=1024x768, 1280=1280x1024,
...), with a checked box next to the one MyColors has decided should be applied
to your desktop. Some themes may include multiple wallpapers that you can
change to by checking the box next to the correct resolution for your computer.
|

|
As you scroll-down the list, there maybe other options, such
as which gadgets to apply, icons (Icon Package), WindowBlinds Skin, etc..
|
|
Each of these options you can uncheck (not apply), or check
(apply) by clicking on the item. Right-clicking inside the options area
will open a small menu that allows you to: "Select" (check the item you
right-clicked on), "Unselect" (uncheck the item you right-clicked on), "Select
all" (check boxes for all items), "Unselect all" (uncheck boxes for all items),
and "Refresh" (un-checks wallpaper boxes). You should be careful when
selecting "Select all" then clicking
, as
it will apply multiple wallpapers, one after the other. This won't cause a
problem, but will take longer for the theme to be applied. If you make a mistake or want to return the theme to the way
it was when it was first installed on your computer, click
.
When you are ready to apply the theme, click
.
Otherwise, to cancel click
or

| This option is visible in Windows Vista only and allows you to
use transparent Windows Aero frames instead of the MyColors theme. Aero is
the default Vista theme that comes with Windows Vista. |
Winter Wonderland theme - showing the
window frame, with minimize (green),
maximize (red) and close (red) buttons.
|

Windows Vista (default) Aero theme - showing
the window frame as semi-transparent,
with standard Vista buttons. |
|
To select this option, check the box
for "I want
to use Aero window frames but keep the rest of the skin". You will be
asked to re-apply the current theme, click
. To cancel,
click or
.
After re-applying the theme, your window frames will now use Windows
Aero.
|
|
To return to using just the MyColors theme for window
frames, simply uncheck the box and it will prompt you again to re-apply
the theme.

Adding an application to the Exclusion list if you don't want
the theme (skin) applied, but to keep the original Window theme instead.
There are three ways to do this: one is on a temporary basis, the second is on a
permanent basis by adding the .exe to the Exclusion list and the third permanent
way is to modify the settings in the icon's Properties.
|
|
|
|
You can temporarily disable the theme when running the
application by holding down the <Ctrl> (or <Control>) key. This only
applies to running the program this time. The next time you run that
application, unless you hold down the <Ctrl> key again, it will be themed.
|
|
|
The next method is to add the .exe of the program to the
MyColors Exclusion list. Then every time you run that application it won't
be themed. You can undo this by simply removing it from the Exclusion
list. To add an application to the Exclusions, click
. An explorer
window will open and you need to locate where the .exe is for that application,
click on it and then click
. Otherwise,
click
or
. (Theme
shown below is: Sins of a Solar Empire.)
|
|
If you don't know where to look, you can locate it on your
Start menu and right-click on Properties. On the "Shortcut" tab, the
"Target" field is where it's located. As an example, Adobe Reader 8 is
located at: "C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe". An application such as
Windows Notepad has a target of: %SystemRoot%\system32\notepad.exe.
Typically, this translates into: C:\Windows\system32\notepad.exe.
|
|
|
You can also make a change to the icon your desktop or start
menu for the application for exclusion. Locate the icon for the
application and right-click on it and select "Properties". Click on the
"Compatibility" tab, and check the box for "Disable visual themes" and click .
(On Windows Vista, it's located under the "Settings" section. On Windows
XP, it's located under "Display settings".)
|

|
|
|
To remove an application you have added to be excluded from
being themed by MyColors,
first click on it in the list.
|
|
Then click the
button and you
will be asked to confirm you want to remove this application (process).
Click to remove it
or click
or
to cancel. The application will then be removed from the list of
Exclusions.
