I was looking for an expert server for quite a while. While most modders just adjust normal servers and mods to feature more bots to make it more challenging, this mod is different.

In this mod, the AI players have been set at an extremely aggressive level and the different AI ranks have been given individual tasks, like colonizing, attacking, etc.

The really special thing is not only that all the AI ships are prefitted with the strongest systems and weapons, they also can use weapons such as grenades or lasers.

While many people complain about the weak AI behaviour in regular servers, you see that changed totally here.

A destroyer with power 3 and shield 2 which uncloaks in front your ship and starts to fire massdrivers makes no sense at all, each human player who has gotten a bit into this game knows that all you have to do is exactly that to get yourself killed.

Now when an AI cruiser in Expert Sol uncloaks you’d better watch out, you might get lasered or eat plasma if you don’t respond quickly.

Also, when your AI are escorting you they do a good job rather then just dying a lot.

Now it really matters when friendly AI follow you, and on the other side a group of enemy AI are very lethal if they attack you.

Some tips:

If you want to survive here you must keep an eye on one thing, don’t try to attack 3 or more AI at the same time, they will kill you if you aren’t experienced enough to know when to get away.

Be sure to set grenade or mine at manual with ‘ctrl + tube number’ otherwise it might fire at a bad time and hurt you while you are in combat with some vicious AI.

Stay away from the AI’s laser range if you are attacked by two or more AIs otherwise you will likely die.

If you have no AC, try attacking freighters and battleships first to get your power upgraded (pickup the debris) and get a tube with cannon, they cut armor really well. (The only non-AC weapons that have good armor-cutting power are cannon and Stingers/PlasmaTorps/Disruptors.)

Newbies should not start playing in this server since most AI players are better than a lot of SF players are already.
