Where can I find my files?

By default Theme Manager OEM installs its files into the directory C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\ThemeManager. Unless you have changed this setting during installation, this is where your files will be. If you do not have IconPackager or WindowBlinds installed on the system, Theme Manager OEM will install limited  versions of these for use with the included suites.

If you do have other versions of Object Desktop components installed (e.g. like enhanced versions of WindowBlinds), the installer will not overwrite them. Instead, it will use those versions to apply the suites.

How do I change themes?

Themes for the Theme Manager are available from http://www.WinCustomize.com as .SUITE or .XPTHEME files.

You may either open the file from the website or save it to your PC and then double-click on it to apply it.

That theme will be immediately available to customize your PC desktop (and copied to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\ThemeManager for future use).

The shortcut to the Theme Manager under your Programs menu can be used to select from themes you have already applied or reset your desktop back to the Windows Classic look.

My theme doesn't look right, what should I do?

The Theme Manager uses the latest video technology. If your display does not look the way that it should, please make sure that you are using the most current drivers for your video card. Most video card manufacturers offer drivers from their website.

Known Issues

Icons are not changed in the Windows XP Classic start menu

If you are using Windows XP with the "Classic" start menu style, the icons will not be changed to the ones included with each theme. This is a limitation of the operating system.

User Name misaligned on Windows XP start menu

If you are logged onto a domain with Windows XP, there is not a user picture at the upper-left corner of the start menu. Your logon name will be aligned further left to fill this space and it will look slightly odd.

Additional icon appears in the notification area (system tray)

If you logon as another user and start the Theme Manager, an additional icon will display in the notification area.

Icons are set globally for all users

If you apply a new theme, the icons with that theme will be used for all user logons on the machine. Other elements of the themes can be different between different users.

How do I uninstall the Theme Manager?

Use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel to remove Theme Manager OEM. Alternatively, you can set the desktop back to the Classic look and remove \Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\ThemeManager. It is recommended you use Add/Remove Programs, as this will set your icons back to their default images (which can be done manually by running ThemeMgr.exe /classic from the directory above).
