I just used Object Package to make a package of my desktop. I restored it on a new system, and the Multimedia Viewer Folder is not correct. What should I do? |

You will need to apply Fixkit #1 for Object Desktop v1.5 to fix this problem. |

I restored by desktop with Object Package and several of by shadowed objects disappeared. What happened? |

Shadowed objects often to not have Object ID's assigned to them. In order for Object Package to successfully save and restore shadows they must have and Object ID. |

Before packaging your desktop or objects, open the Settings Notebook (Properties in Warp v4) and turn on the "Assign ID's" open in the Store Options page. This will create Object ID's for any object that does not have any. Turning this option on for the Object Package Template will save you time, so you do not have to do this for every template you tear off. |

I packaged my desktop and objects that pointed to the CD-Rom are now currupt. Help Me? |

This is a problem with Object Package. If the CD that contains the file that the object is pointing to, is not in the drive then Object Package does not properly read the Object Data thus corrupting the Object on the desktop. But the object can still be recoverd. Open the properties for your package file, on the Restore Options page turn on the option to Verify program objects path. Close the properties and then restore the package file (or just the object). During the restore process you will get a diaglog stating that the file cannot be found. At this time insert the appropriate CD and click on Continue. At this point the Object can get properly recreated since it will now be able to find the file that it is associated to. |
