PLYMOUTH, MI – June 18, 2015 – Stardock, software and video game developer, announced the availability of the alpha for its upcoming massive scale RTS game set in the far future - Ashes of the Singularity. The alpha is limited to players who purchase one of the Founder’s Editions of the game which are available at www.ashesgame.com
The Ashes of the Singularity alpha is still at an early development stage and is geared towards hardcore RTS gamers. Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock Corporation said “To be clear, this is not early access. We’re looking for a few brave people willing to be involved on the ground floor of a game we feel will deliver cutting-edge new tech coupled with fun gameplay that people who liked Total Annihilation or Company of Heroes would really enjoy. But at this point it’s still very early in development, so really hardcore RTS gamers are what we need.”
Ashes of the Singularity was first revealed at GDC earlier this year and it was showcased this week during AMD’s New Era of PC Gaming livestream at PC Gamer’s PC Gaming Show in Los Angeles. This is the first game to make use of the new Nitrous engine developed by Stardock’s partner Oxide Games. The engine’s technological advancements enable the massive scale, high visual fidelity and intelligent AI available in the Ashes of the Singularity gameplay experience.
Everything in the game is realistically lit by thousands of light sources even when the camera is zoomed out to show massive battles across the planet. Gameplay is enhanced by intelligent unit AI that free up a player’s attention to develop tactics to win the larger war. In addition players who have access to DirectX 12 and next-generation GPUs will be able to run Ashes of the Singularity at 4K resolution with the image quality settings turned up for an even more impressive visual experience.
Ashes of the Singularity is set in the year 2178. Humans have evolved, and are now locked in a galaxy-wide war amongst both themselves and a sentient AI race called the Substrate. Players battle for control of planets that are suitable for converting into a substance called Computronium. Sometimes the planets you find have multiple claimants, resulting in conflict, and your job is to convert the planet first or annihilate your opponents.
