  What is Siege of Centauri?

Siege of Centauri is Stardock’s take on the tower defense genre. Earth's first interstellar colony in Proxima Centauri is under attack by an unknown alien species and it’s up to you to save the colony at any cost.

  What makes Siege of Centauri different from other tower defense games?

Siege of Centauri was developed with three major things in mind:

A lot of thought went into replay-ability. This tends to be the bane of this genre. You'll see lots of different features from leaderboards to achievements and player made missions in this so that people can constantly find new things to do over a long period of time.

Strategic depth. This is easier said than done (which is why this game took so long for us to finish). Too much and you have an RTS, too little and it's a generic tower defense game. So we have things like resource collection and orbital abilities and line of sight and other things that make the game beefier.

Customization. Another thing that we focus on is customization. You can configure your towers based on a preview of the enemies you're going to face. This gets pretty extravagant as you get deeper into the game.

  Is Siege of Centauri a sequel to Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation?

It’s not a sequel, but it is set in the same universe. Siege is a tower defense game, while Ashes is an RTS game, so the style of play is completely different. We have carried over a few strategic elements, though!

  Is this a traditional tower defense game, or some crazy new thing?

We’ve incorporated some strategic elements like resource collection and orbital abilities into Siege of Centauri in order to distinguish it from other games, but it still fits in the tower defense genre.

  What does it mean when you say this game is massive scale?

You’ll be fighting a lot of enemies - and we mean a lot. Siege of Centauri is meant to give you the feeling of facing down truly overwhelming odds, and we accomplish that with the quality of unit variety, and the quantity of the hordes coming to attack your base.
