New Alien Race Idea: The Ooma and the Voor

Hello All,
This will be the first of many alien race and plot ideas that I would like to contribute to the SC universe. During my space-age table top game, I used this scenario for my players and it was greatly enjoyed:
THE OUMA AND THE VOOR:
The flagship's first encounter with the Ooma will be via a distress signal coming from an extremely damaged ship that is orbiting one of the star systems the player has just dropped out of hyperspace into in order to explore.
The player will be hailed on interacting with the damaged ship and will encounter the a very peppy and high spirited Ooma captain that is greatly overjoyed that the captain is not an "evil space slug."
The Ooma are cutesy moth-like creatures with four arms that have a generally hyper and overly positive/friendly demeanor, they definitely fall under the more "huggable" alien races. Some concept art of moth aliens I looked up yielded something like this:
After further discussion with the Ooma captain, the player will discover that the Ooma are being viciously attacked by another race of extremely violent caterpillar-like aliens called the Voor. Some nabbed concept art:
The Ooma captain will ask for the captain's help in escorting her back to her homeworld, to which she will provide the coordinates for and join the captain's fleet. While enroute to the Ooma homeworld, the player may encounter hostile Voor ships. These ships should be larvae like in design and use acid weapons. The Voor captain will demand that the player turns the Ooma captain over to it and will immediately attack if this isn't done. Upon questioning the Voor, the player will discover that the Voor are driven by an ideology called the "Great Hunger." The Voor are constantly plagued by the intense desire to feed and believe their hunger will only end after they have devoured the entire Ooma race. They believe that by doing this they will enter the "Great Cocoon" and be reborn in a higher plane of existence.
THE TERRIBLE TRUTH:
Through exploration and galactic investigation, the player is able to discover the truth behind the Ooma and the Voor. Young Ooma begin in a caterpillar state and go into a cocoon before becoming full fledged Ooma (players can discover this by asking about the Ooma culture and physiology when talking to them). The players will have quests that eventually lead to the discovery of an experimental facility where a more powerful and antagonistic alien race abducted a group of Ooma caterpillars/young and attempted to genetically modify them (perhaps for the purpose of being battle thralls). There could also be some other story driven reason for the Ooma mutating (such as a long lost Ooma exploration team coming across some terrible artifact).
The result of the modification caused the Ooma to never go into a cocoon and remain in a caterpillar state forever -becoming the Voor. Because of this the Voor became unstable and driven by hunger -which led to the "Great Hunger" philosophy. The players may resolve the Ooma and Voor conflict by recovering the missing genome of the Voor and providing it to them, which will allow them to go into cocoons and emerge in their true state, which more closely resembles the Ooma.
POSSIBLE STORY OUTCOMES:
1.) The players turn over the Ooma captain to the Voor and refuse to help the Ooma, in this case the Voor will eventually overtake the Ooma and devour them all -possibly aligning with the player afterwards.
2.) The players agree to help the Ooma and become hostile to the Voor, a longer chain of quests ensure that eventually ends with the players discovering the truth. Upon providing the lost genome to the Voor, the Voor go into a cocoon state and emerge as a new race. The new race will have its own ships (that combine the tech of the Ooma and Voor) and distinct look and vows to become guardians of the more pacifistic and bubbly Ooma.
