Frogboy - Trying to create *LUSHNESS*

Published on Thursday, July 5, 2018 By cuorebrave In Founders Starbase

Dear Frogboy,

Working within the confines of time, $$$ and feasibility, I am aware that I can't have everything I want. So I wanted to pose a creative solution to the planet-landing's relative....... sparsity.

You've told me that we can *either* have a loading screen, or more groundclutter. I understand that.

So, how do we find a middle-ground, while not going back to the drawing board, adding assets or creating a loading screen to make the planets richer, lusher, and visually, aesthetically pleasing?

I think I found a solution: Bigger.

Stay with me here. Without adding more assets, clutter, or polygons, would it be possible to SCALE some of that clutter up? Some small mushrooms, some large mushrooms? Some small trees, other large trees? Some small cacti, some large cacti?

So, keep the same assets and the same number of assets, with a small variable adjusted: Scale.

Allow me to demonstrate:

Here's the first, relatively sparse, rather empty scene from your latest video:

Sparse01

And here I've just increased the size of those assets, to create a richer, more abundant look and feel:

There's no additional things to load, no extras, no more polygons or textures - just an order of magnitude larger objects.

Here's another empty-ish, rather barren landscape:

And here's the same exact picture, just with some stuff larger than before (and a couple crystals added for good measure:

Frogboy, if a Scale Slider is impossible, I'll take your word for it, and won't bring it up again. But please, if you would, take this into consideration. The worlds above look livelier, more prolific, denser and richer and more jubilant than with the small clutter as it currently stands. More like a world that is *alive*. And one that I'd surely be more aggressively into exploring.

PS- that tornado appears very easy to sidestep - along with most of the other planetary dangers I've played. Any way to increase their aggressiveness on more dangerous planets, and the same on less dangerous planets?
