  • Art Director

    Stardock is committed to making visually compelling games. We are currently seeking a full-time Art Director at our Plymouth, MI studio. We work with bleeding edge technology and need an experienced veteran to guide and blend our amazing engineering capabilities with our talented art team. The Art Director not only sets the visual style of the game but provides specific guidance, both artistic and technical, on how to achieve those goals.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Champion of the overall aesthetics across multiple game projects.
    • Establish visual targets for specific game projects.
    • Create implementation strategies to achieve aesthetic goals.
    • Provide specific visual feedback throughout the stages of production to completion.
    • Pushing visual boundaries using a next-generation graphics engine.
    • Able to get hands dirty and produce high-quality 3D models, textures, and animations as needed.
    • Collaborate with design, production, and engineering to deliver AAA visuals.
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • A proven leader in producing AAA visuals.
    • Must have shipped at least one AAA title in either a Lead Art or Art Director role.
    • 10+ years of experience in the games industry.
    • A portfolio that demonstrates AAA art experience.
    • Deep understanding of the art production pipelines to maximize efficiency and quality.
    • Expert-level familiarity with Autodesk Maya and/or 3ds Max, and Adobe Photoshop.
    • High proficiency in areas such as lighting, rendering, and texturing.
    • Expertise with PBR based pipelines, software, and assets.
    • Ability to work well under deadlines and ability to multi-task.

  • Graphics Engineer

    Stardock released the first DirectX 12 game as well as the first game to support both DirectX 12 and Vulkan. We are currently seeking a full-time Graphics Engineer to work on our next generation game engine for both announced and unannounced titles to build up our team of dedicated and experienced talent! This is a salaried, full-time position at our Plymouth, Michigan office.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Develop and implement new and existing rendering techniques.
    • Create and optimize shaders and materials to run on a variety of platforms and machine specifications.
    • Develop systems for animations and special effects.
    • Work with the technical art team to create editors and tools that help improve the art pipeline.
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent work experience.
    • 5+ years experience creating materials and shaders.
    • Strong proficiency in 3D math, linear algebra, shaders, HLSL/GLSL, physically based rendering, image based lighting, materials and global illumination.
    • A passion for optimization and familiarity with optimization tools.
    • Self-motivated, likes to identify and solve problems.
    • Very strong C++ background.
    • Familiarity with Vulkan is a plus.

  • Application Developer

    Stardock is currently seeking a full-time Application Developer to fix and improve our current Windows software and supporting systems as well as create new products and technologies. The Application Developer will use a wide skill set to tackle interesting, complex, and varied projects. This position is based out of our Plymouth, MI location.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Design, code, test, document, and debug new and existing applications and systems according to industry best practices.
    • Assist in defining scope and specifications for software projects.
    • Work with Software Engineers to assist in improving products.
    • Maintain and improve current product delivery systems.
    • Track and communicate through bug tracking system.
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant field required.
    • 3+ years experience desired in C++ with supplemental C# knowledge required.
    • 3+ years experience in Windows application development required.

    • Networking/HTTP knowledge and experience preferred.

  • Game Developer

    This position will involve working on cutting edge games as well as helping us bring our games to other platforms. This is a salaried, full-time position at our Plymouth, Michigan office.

  • Associate Art Producer

    We are currently seeking a full-time Associate Art Producer to oversee all responsibilities related to art outsourcing including understanding art goals and needs, securing contractors to fulfill project goals, acceptance of contracted work maintaining consistency and quality, and integrating assets into the game engine. This is a salaried, full-time position at our Plymouth, Michigan office.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Collaborate with the art and design teams to understand and communicate the project's visual goals and maintain consistency and AAA quality.
    • Collaborate with the art and design teams in the creation and overall management of external art schedules and resource plans.
    • Track and provide specific visual feedback on all assets throughout the stages of production to completion.
    • Create and implement the art production pipeline between internal and external productions and enforcing the process throughout the project cycle.
    • Integrate assets (both internally and externally generated) into the game engine.
    • Evaluate external parties for viability and quality and making recommendations on choice of external vendor.
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • Bachelor's Degree in related field and 3+ years of experience required.
    • Prior game industry experience as a producer or technical artist is a huge plus.
    • Portfolio or reel demonstrating the capability to make solid art and design choices.
    • Proficient with industry standard art tools (Maya, Photoshop, etc.).
    • Understands game art production process and methodology.
    • Previous experience with outsourcing, managing external vendors or teams, and directing others through written communication.
    • Effective communication with peers, art staff, and senior management.
