  • Art Director

    Stardock is committed to making visually compelling games. We are currently seeking a full-time Art Director at our Plymouth, MI studio to work on an unannounced Sci-Fi project. We work with bleeding edge technology and need an experienced veteran to guide and blend our amazing engineering capabilities with our talented art team. The Art Director not only sets the visual style of the game but provides specific guidance, both artistic and technical, on how to achieve those goals.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Control the overall aesthetics of the project (UI, art style, FX, etc.).
    • Establish visual targets for the art team.
    • Manage outsourcers and freelancers to support production loads.
    • Create implementation strategies to achieve aesthetic goals.
    • Provide specific visual feedback throughout the stages of production to completion.
    • Pushing visual boundaries using a next-generation graphics engine.
    • Able to get hands dirty and produce high-quality 3D models, textures, and animations as needed.
    • Collaborate with design, production, and engineering to deliver high-quality visuals.
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • A proven leader in producing high-quality visuals.
    • Must have shipped at least one AA or AAA title in either a Lead Art or Art Director role.
    • 5+ years of experience in the games industry.
    • A portfolio that demonstrates AA or AAA experience.
    • Experience concepting and/or creating hard surface assets (weapons, spaceships, etc.).
    • Deep understanding of the art production pipelines to maximize efficiency and quality.
    • Expert-level familiarity with Autodesk Maya and/or 3ds Max, and Adobe Photoshop.
    • High proficiency in areas such as lighting, rendering, and texturing.
    • Expertise with PBR based pipelines, software, and assets.
    • Ability to work well under deadlines and ability to multi-task.

  • Associate Game Developer

    Are you an avid gamer interested in creating awesome games? Stardock is currently seeking a talented Associate Game Developer to create gameplay systems in cutting edge games. The ideal candidate is well versed in C++, has created games in the past, and loves strategy games. This is a salaried, full-time position at our Plymouth, Michigan office.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Build and maintain gameplay systems in modern C++
    • Write technical documents describing the implementation of gameplay systems.
    • Create data-driven systems that enable quick gameplay iteration.

  • Gameplay Audio Software Engineer

    Are you an avid gamer interested in creating awesome games? Stardock is currently seeking a talented Gameplay Audio Software Engineer to implement stunning audio experiences in cutting edge games. The ideal candidate is well versed in C++, has created games in the past, and loves strategy games. This is a salaried, full-time position at our Plymouth, Michigan office.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Integrate gameplay and animation driven foley, UI sounds, ambient and music tracks, environmental audio effects.
    • Work with Wwise and supporting systems.
    • Collaborate with producers, designers, programmers, and audio content creators to design, prototype, and implement new audio features.
    • Extend and improve audio-related data formats and tool pipeline.
    • Review code written by programmers across the studio and collaborate with them to improve code quality and troubleshoot audio-related technology.
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or relevant field.
    • 3 years of working C++ experience, knowledge of modern C++ concepts.
    • At least 3 years of experience in audio programming, preferably for games.
    • Experience with principles of 3D audio, audio effects.
    • Working knowledge of audio engineering required and basics of music theory is a bonus.
    • Experience with Wwise or similar (FMOD, Miles, etc.) workflow.
    • Familiarity with DSP and virtual analog algorithms for synthesis and effects.

  • Producer

    Do you enjoy playing games and have a talent for planning and organizing dynamic projects? Stardock is currently seeking a talented and organized Producer for an unannounced sci-fi project! The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is responsible for driving projects to success, ensuring delivery on-schedule, within scope, and with high quality. This is a salaried, full-time position located at and reporting to our Plymouth, Michigan studio with remote work options available currently.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Create project plans, schedules, and milestone requirements.
    • Organize tasks with logical orientation to ensure on-time completion.
    • Ensure implementation of game design features as well as creating new ones.
    • Manage upcoming bug reports and prioritize fixes.
    • Continuously convey project status and important information to internal stakeholders.
    • Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as assigned by senior management.
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • 3+ years experience as a Producer in the games industry.

  • Senior 3D Artist

    We are currently seeking an experienced full-time Senior 3D Artist, to collaborate with our existing team on assets for an unannounced Sci-Fi game title. The ideal candidate will be skillful in creating a variety of assets and have a strong artistic eye. Furthermore, the artist should be comfortable with a technical pipeline involving different tools along with a proprietary in-house engine. Overall, this candidate must be comfortable creating a wide variety of assets, mentoring junior artists, and working with assets received from multiple outsourcing companies.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Produce high quality assets according to design specs, technical requirements and 3D best practices
    • Provide guidance and mentoring to other artists on your team, as well as reviews and critiques for external artists
    • Create hard surface assets (terrain vehicles, spaceships, etc.)
    • Create organic assets (characters, creatures, etc.)
    • Create textures using Substance Painter and Photoshop
    • Complete 3D art on schedule with project milestones
    • Ensure the technical and artistic follow-up of the assets imported into our proprietary engine and make the necessary modifications
    • Collaborate with tools and engine teams to continually improve upon our custom workflows and technology
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • Degree or certification in 3D art, digital art, or related discipline
    • 10+ Years experience creating 3D art as displayed in visual portfolio
    • 5+ Years professional experience making assets for games
    • Well developed leadership, communication, teamwork and collaboration skills

The ideal candidate is well versed in C++, has shipped titles in the past, is familiar with porting to console platforms, and loves strategy games. This is a salaried, full-time position at our Plymouth, Michigan office and relocation assistance will be provided.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Oversee porting of cutting-edge game software technology to console hardware platforms.
    • Manage TRC compliance across multiple console platforms.
    • Implement low level systems such as windowing, controllers, rendering, audio, user management, and networking.
    • Architect, build and maintain core systems in modern C++ on multicore CPUs.
    • Write technical documents describing core systems.

  • Tools Developer

    The Tools Developer creates tools and applications to facilitate the work of artists, producers, and game designers on Stardock projects. Tool work covers the entire gamut of improving the game development process from pipeline development, data editors, and debugging information. The ideal candidate isn't just satisfied that tools merely "work", but that the tool creates an ideal experience for its user.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:
    • Design and implement GUI tools used by designers and artists to create content.
    • Work with artists, designers and programmers to create tools/pipelines and workflows as well as determine areas for improvements (speed and to increase tool capabilities).
    • Collaborate with diverse groups within the organization to gather requirements and develop designs.
    • Work with producers to accurately schedule and coordinate cross-team to deliver polished, fully comprehensive experiences.
    Education and/or Experience Desired:
    • 2+ years of professional C++ experience. Knowledge of Qt, C#, LUA, and XML/XSD are a plus.
    • Demonstrate a solid knowledge of UI/UX principles.
    • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and balance priorities with good time management.
    • Experience with current art production tools and middleware.
    • Solid 3D Math skills including linear algebra and trigonometry.
    • Experience with data visualization.
