Seriousness with a spice of humour

I've just seen and read something about Star Control Origins. It's not much I know but from what I saw is a wrong focus in my opinion. What I got from Star Control 2 is 'Serious business with humorous elements' but what I've seen and thereof going to expect of Origins is 'Humorous business with serious elements'.

That's a bummer, really! Today it's either the one or the other or the 'Humorous business with serious elements' kind of things. I did see the concept video and the main ship is ok, but the planets... oh man! Humorous small and almost a caricature. It's easier to hide the size of planets and such by sprites and 2D drawings because the brain will fill in the rest (with mine I think from what I could observe) but this didn't hit the Star Control spot.

I really do appreciate that Stardock is trying to bring back a classic but from what I have seen I don't know yet. Is it just me? What do others think of it?
