keyboard and ship movement

I'm playing GC on a Notebook.
I have no numeric keyboard. I can't move ships in diagonal.
Let me say that moving ships around with the KB is then unfeasible and I have to revert to the mouse that I hate.
Any possible solution?
Could you remap for a notebook?
