Replay Lag

It has been postulated by numerous players that replay recording causes lag. Now does it? In my experience it doesn't. I've had horrible lag with and without replays. My feeling is that it is an urban myth.

I would like it if possible to permanently confirm or deny the replay lag hypothesis.
