Stardock Game Engine History

This past week I was on Explormiate ( http://explorminate.net/2015/12/16/strategic-expanse-interview-with-brad-wardell-2/ ) and the subject of game engines.  Given the emails and feedback I’ve gotten it is pretty clear most people are not that familiar with game engine generations.   So consider this a basic primer on them and why they matter. Wayward Strategist: Brad Wardell Catches Us Up on The Amazing Tech Behind Ashes of the Singularity

Brad has an AAR from a game with Ashes of the Singularity, and talks about some of the tech behind it in an article on Wayward Strategist. We might be able to bring down the memory requirement to 6 GB.  Video memory is still 2GB minimum. You need a 2013 or later video card.  I’m playing this ... [read more]

Originally posted by Soren Johnson on the Mohawk Games blog.   We’ve never been super happy with the original stock system – in which after all of a player’s stock is purchased, another player can buyout that player by paying double for all stock owned by other players. Although the initial period of stock buying is exciting, there is also a long period of time while players are just stockpiling cash for the final buyout, which can be a little boring and also has gam... GalCiv III v1.41 Offers Option to Re-Enable Planetary Wheel

In response to your feedback on update 1.4 for  Galactic Civilizations III , the Dev Team has made it so that you may optionally re-enable the old planetary production wheel through a pref.ini setting.   The reason the wheel is no longer part of the main game is two-fold. First, we don't want players to feel like they must micromanage every planet to this level in order to get an optimal result. Second, the result of such micro management was compelling in that it coul... [read more]
