GameSpot.com has a quick update Q&A with Brad Wardell about the current status of Elemental: War of Magic. "Brad Wardell: We're nearing the end of the first beta of the game. Our focus has been to work through the game mechanics to make sure what seems fun on paper will translate to fun in-game. Specifically, we have been working on the battle system, quests, and the player's dynasty. The dynasty system has proven to be far more interesting than we had realized" Read the full update ove... I work at Stardock and those of you who follow my journals know I’m pretty opinionated (see “ Kudos to Good old Games ”, “ Happy about Steam ”, “Don’t blame the pirates”) . So let me give my 2 cents on why the young studio, Ironclad Games is already so successful. I’m not speaking for them. This is just my opinion on what makes a new studio successful. Who is Ironclad? Big Download had a chat with Stardock’s Brad Wardell about Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy recently. “ The second mini-expansion, Diplomacy, sounds like it will have less of a combat focus this time. Why did you want to improve on the game's non-combat features? Probably the biggest reason has to do with allowing a lot more flexibility for players. Prior to Diplomacy, players had virtually no control over which players they were at war with. Inevitably, this meant ... [read more]

IGN has posted a preview of Sins of a Solar Empire - Diplomacy, based on their experiences with a late beta of the upcoming micro-expansion. "Diplomacy is a bit of a game changer and adds a missing element to the game. In the same way that Entrenchment helped to reorient the combat by giving players defensive options that encouraged bigger and better space battles, Diplomacy seems to give players an opportunity to compete with each other much more indirectly. Better still, it can really help... [read more]
