All hail the Frogs

One of the things we were excited to add to GalCiv III was more detailed race customization. This time around, we’ve made it a lot easier for people to create their own truly unique civilizations. You can set your leader to be different from your species Right now, you’re doing the eating but later, they’ll be eating you. Of course, when making a GalCiv race you get to play AS that race and then later play against it if you so choose. So when designing them, you al... [read more]

Galactic Civilizations III - Modding

In a prior Developer Blog ( https://forums.galciv3.com/461709/page/1/ ) I talked about all the cool stuff you can do in the Custom Race tool. We give you a bunch of images, traits, abilities and settings to create whatever race you want. But, if you really want to make something unique you can go so much further. In this post I’ll talk about how modding works in Galactic Civilizations III and show you how I used it to make a new faction for the game, the Ghosts of Abbado... [read more]

Galactic Civilizations III - Custom Factions

We are hard at work creating the next Galactic Civilizations III beta and we will have a lot of fun things for you to play with. But I wanted to talk about one of my favorites, Custom Races. First off there are 2 ways to create custom races. First you can add them as a mod (but more about that in a future post). For this post I wanted to talk about everything you can do in the in game tool to create a wide variety of unique, interesting and weird species to populate your universes. ... [read more]

Rock, Paper, Shotgun Early Impressions of Offworld Trading Company

Rock, Paper, Shotgun has an early impressions article up about Offworld Trading Company. "What I’m saying is that Offworld Trading Company starts off seeming fairly simple, and low-conflict, but escalates into something smart, complicated and tense. It might have no combat, but this is a true arms race. As the corporations tussle for prize tiles or sabotage key buildings at the worst/best moment, constantly leapfrogging each other for the highest stock value, that there are no guns ma... Niche Gamer Preview of Galactic Civilizations III

Niche Gamer has a preview up today of Galactic Civilizations where they take a look at the current beta release. Next Stop: Early Access

Although I have worked on Offworld Trading Company for over a year now, I still struggle to know how to first describe the game. It’s a game about making money. It’s a game about colonizing Mars. It’s a real-time strategy game, but you don’t control units or directly attack other players. It feels like a board game but one which could never exist outside of a computer. Ultimately, it’s all of these things and yet something else too: a strategy game full o... [read more]
